Got7 Just Right Music Video

Got7 establishes just how good they are at doing the playful and cute act with “Just Right”.

Story

This song’s story is rather sweet.  The entire song is about how a girl is ‘just right’ the way she is, and most people expected that the video would feature an older girl or something similar.   Surprisingly, the main character of this is a young girl, which pulled the heartstrings of many of the fans.

The video starts off with a lovely young girl staring at herself in the mirror as she drags something (I’m not sure what type of device that is) across her cheeks.  When tears start to pour down her cheeks, the drawers of her vanity start to rumble and out pops a mini-Got7.

Through the rest of the video, the mini-boys sing about how it’s okay for her to be how she is because she’s truly ‘just right’.  She starts to cheer up and dance along with them and the video ends with her laying on her bed, happy instead of sad.

So there were two big things with this video that stuck out to me as far as the story goes.  One was the use of the younger girl.  As I said before, it pulls heartstrings because you expect older ladies to deal with that, but for some reason people don’t expect it from a young girl.

The second thing was that we actually had a conclusion!  I love the Got7 videos, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes when they end I feel like I missed out on something and this time we got the conclusion (and what a happy one it was).

Costumes and Set

The set for this song went perfectly with the theme.  It was young and playful, with bright colors everywhere.  The costuming followed the same trend with the bright colors.  I loved how they made the set so large to make the boys seem so small.  It also seemed like some of their outfits were intentionally a tad large too, giving the impression of them being even smaller.

There was no set costume, and with the home setting that gave the entire video a homegrown, boy next door feel.  My favorite set was the toy car and fan.  The scene itself was funny, but it also reminded me of the Barbie in an earlier scene, which goes along with the message, since they had to change Barbie’s a long while back to make them more ‘realistic’.

During one of the hook scenes, The outfits were far more neutral which made them pop more than the bright colors would’ve with the blue and white background.  I loved that portion of the video because it was so simple and let me focus on the dance itself.

Song

“Just Right” is a playful song that has silly elements but a serious message.  It’s one of those tracks that gets you up and on your feet, but when you really look at the lyrics, you end up with an entirely different view on it.  The entire song focuses on how a the girl in question is perfectly fine how she is and shouldn’t worry about the little things like how she looks, what she weighs, and whatnot.  I loved how sweet the song was, especially when paired with the video, it was heartwarming.

Lyrics

Baby, you are just…
Just right

Mirror, mirror please tell her
Scale, please tell her too
That she doesn’t need to change anything
That she’s pretty and perfect just as she is right now
Just be happy, don’t worry
Don’t look for your flaws
Instead of the mirror, just look into my eyes
Instead of the scale, just get on my back

No matter how much I take you apart
And look and look at you
I can’t find that part of yourself
that you think isn’t pretty

If you just stay
the way you are now
I want nothing more
so don’t change anything
Don’t worry about anything
Because I like everything about you
Don’t change anything
about yourself

Just as you are (right now) oh (just as you are)
Oh (just as you are right now) just stay as you are

Everything about you is just right
So relax, stop worrying
You can believe what I’m saying 100%
So you can erase all of your worries 100%

No matter how much I take you apart
And look and look at you
I can’t find that part of yourself
that you think isn’t pretty

If you just stay
the way you are now
I want nothing more
so don’t change anything
Don’t worry about anything
Because I like everything about you
Don’t change anything
about yourself

Just as you are (right now) oh (just as you are)
Oh (just as you are right now) just stay as you are

I’d find a flaw if there was even a flaw that I could see
You dazzle, you have nothing missing
Do you know how pretty you are in my eyes? I want you
Just as you are, you’re the only one
I’d find a flaw if there was even a flaw that I could see
You dazzle, you have nothing missing
Do you know how pretty you are in my eyes? I want you
Just as you are, you’re the only one

If you just stay
the way you are now
I want nothing more
so don’t change anything
Don’t worry about anything
Because I like everything about you
Don’t change anything
about yourself
